Hello, everyone. It’s Aunt Grace writing from my kitchen.
We’re still in the middle of this lingering summer heat, and the air feels heavy most days. Even so, the moment those first fall items start appearing at Trader Joe’s, I find myself reaching for the same handful of favorites every year. These are the ones that make a simple meal feel like home, whether the weather cooperates or not.
Here are the five I always pick up as soon as they arrive:
1. Butternut Squash Mac & Cheese
This is pure comfort in a box. The squash adds a gentle sweetness, and the cheese is rich without being heavy. I bake it with a little extra Parmesan on top and serve it with a simple green salad. It’s perfect on nights when you want something satisfying but don’t feel like cooking from scratch.

2. Autumnal Harvest Soup
One jar and dinner is nearly done. It’s filled with butternut squash, pumpkin, and those familiar autumn herbs. I warm it on the stove and often stir in a bit of leftover roasted chicken or a few slices of sausage. A bowl of this with a slice of good bread feels like a quiet reset after a long, hot day.

3. Honey Roasted Pumpkin Ravioli
These little pillows need almost nothing. I boil them for just a few minutes, then toss them in browned butter with a few fresh sage leaves. Sometimes I add a spoonful of goat cheese on top. It looks special but comes together in under 15 minutes. My family always asks for this one.

4. Butternut Squash Risotto
Creamy, steady, and ready in the microwave or on the stove. I usually finish it with a little extra black pepper and a handful of toasted pecans. It pairs nicely with a simple roasted chicken thigh or stands alone when you want something quiet and filling.

5. Pumpkin Bisque
Smooth, lightly spiced, and easy to keep on hand. I keep a couple in the fridge for busy days. A swirl of cream or a few croutons turns it into something that feels comforting no matter how hot it is outside. On the hardest days of this heat, this is often the first thing I reach for. That’s my short list. These items don’t stay on the shelves forever, so I grab them when I see them.

What about you?
If you try any of these, I’d love to hear which one becomes your favorite. Do you have a must-have Trader Joe’s fall item I missed? Let me know in the comments below!
Take good care of yourselves out there.
Love, Aunt Grace
