Hello, everyone! It’s your friend, Aunt Grace.
I feel like I’m at Costco almost every week. Especially these days, with grocery prices going up so much, we all need smart ways to save money. Today I’m sharing 5 hidden Costco shopping hacks that the store doesn’t really advertise. These simple tips have saved me hundreds of dollars, and I hope they help you too!
1. Decode the Price Tags (The .97 Secret)
Did you know Costco’s price tags have a little secret? If the Price ends in .99, that’s the regular price. But if it ends in .97, it means the item is on a manager’s markdown! They are trying to clear out the stock, so It’s usually a really good deal. Whenever I see a .97, I grab it right away.

2. Look for the Asterisk (*) on the Tag
Take a closer look at the top right corner of the price sign. If you see a little star or asterisk (*), it means the item is being discontinued and won’t be restocked. These items often marked down to the lowest price, so it’s your last chance to get a great deal.

3. Skip the Brand Names and Buy “Kirkland Signature”
I used to be skeptical about store brands too, but Costco’s Kirkland Signature line is honestly excellent. A lot of Kirkland products are actually made by big-name brands, just sold at a much lower price. Switching to Kirkland has easily cut my grocery bill by 20% – 30%.

4. Shop the Center Court Last
When you first walk into Costco, all those flashy electronics and pretty displays at the front are tempting. That’s on purpose – they want you to impulse buy. Instead, walk straight to the middle and back of the store first. That’s where the real everyday bargains and clearance items are usually hiding.
5. Utilize the Generous Return Policy
Costco has one of the best return policies out there. You can return almost anything if you are not happy with it – even if you already opened a snack and didn’t like the taste. Don’t let your money go to waste!
Shopping at Costco is great, but shopping smart is even better. Try these hacks on your next trip and watch your savings grow! What is your favorite Costco tip? Tell me in the comments below!
